Patrick Allen Gissel, 51
Patrick Gissel, 51, of Bloomington, Minnesota, formerly of Racine, Wisconsin, unexpectedly passed away on Nov. 21, 2015 while on an interim work assignment on Block Island. He was born in Racine on Oct. 31, 1964, was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School and attended University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He was a master painting specialist working in commercial, industrial and residential markets, and earned many trade certificates from the International Painters Union in Connecticut and Minnesota. He achieved the highest rank of Boy Scouts of America, that of Eagle Scout. Patrick enjoyed his church, Redeeming Love, and St. Ann's-by-the-Sea while on Block Island. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, snow skiing, and sailing with family and friends. He was a huge fan of NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers and the Wisconsin Badgers.
Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Alice (née: Krizan) Gissel; and is survived by his father, Clarence Gissel of Mt. Vernon, Washington; his sister, Nancy (Tobin) Findley of Mt. Vernon, Washington; his three brothers, Don Gissel of Atlanta, Georgia; Jim (Melody) Gissel of Woodbury, Minnesota; and Jeffrey Gissel of Tomah, Wisconsin. Don is currently on the island.
Patrick is lovingly remembered by his nephews, Brad and Todd Gissel of Atlanta, Georgia; Matthew (Rubylee) Findley and Stephen Findley of Marysville, Washington; his niece, Lauren Gissel of Atlanta, Georgia; his grand-niece, Hannah Findley, his grand-nephew, Ryan Findley both of Marysville, Washington.
A memorial service of Holy Eucharist for Patrick will be celebrated at St. Ann's by-the-Sea, on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 12 p.m. All are welcome.
Memorial donations may be made to Patrick’s house of worship, Redeeming Love Church, (www.redeeminglovechurch.com), for their service and ministry to adults and teens struggling with drug and alcohol addiction to help them gain hope, healing, and freedom in their lives.
