Obituary: Charles Q. Kent

Charles Q. Kent, 55, of Oakdale, Conn., passed away on Wednesday, October 3.

Charlie was born on April 4, 1957, to Oliver and Therese (Quinn) Kent in Norwich, Conn. He attended Montville High School.

Charlie was employed at the Submarine Base in Groton, Conn. He also enjoyed owning and operating excavation equipment.

Charlie enjoyed life to the fullest, his way. He had a love of the open road and was a spirited member of the Independent Riders Association Motorcycle Club, holding the title of Road Captain. He was most proud of his 1947 Indian Chief and 1969 LT-1 Corvette, which he drove conservatively through the surrounding towns of southeastern Connecticut.

Charlie was predeceased by his brother Robert. He is survived by his parents of Montville, his loving sister Maggie and her husband Don Thimble of Block Island, and many friends and relatives.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 13, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Uncasville, Conn. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home, Norwich.
