LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: New family tradition
To the Editor,
For the past 33 years my family has been vacationing on Block Island. Three generations of my family spend a week on Block Island enjoying the surf, sand, shops, dine arounds, and quaintness of the island.
Annually, my grandchildren from Mendham, N.J. have a lemonade stand at the triangle of Mohegan Trail and Pilot Hill Road. They donate half of their proceeds to the Block Island Conservancy. This year they donated $60. My grandchildren started a new tradition this year with the idea of collecting shells, painting them and writing ocean riddles on the outside of the shells and answers on the inside. They left one outside the Glass Onion, one at Rebecca’s and the rest at Painted Rock. They hoped that this tradition would brighten the day of the curious.
