James Pollock, 91
James Pollock passed peacefully on June 30, 2018 at StoneRidge Avalon in Mystic, Connecticut. He was a Florida resident but spent half of each year in Mystic and Block Island, R.I. with his partner, Barbara MacDougall, since 2013.
In addition to his partner Barbara MacDougall, he is survived by two children, one grandson and seven great-grandchildren.
Jim, who was born on May 2, 1927, lived in New York City until 1957. He attended The Pawling School (Pawling, N.Y.), Rumsey Hall (Cornwall, Conn.) and Choate (Wallingford, Conn.). After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1946, he enrolled at Brown University under the GI Bill, graduating in 1951.
Jim loved to entertain people with jokes and shared them with 75 people on his email list. He loved to keep people smiling. He was a lifelong golfer, New York Yankees fan and an avid New York Times crossword puzzler. He was a gentle man who donated his time and money to numerous charitable organizations.
His services are planned in December 2018 at the Royal Poinciana Chapel in Palm Beach, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The Lord’s Place (thelordsplace.org), an organization in West Palm Beach dedicated to ending homelessness, are requested.
