Dorothy McCluskey

Longtime island resident and conservationist Dorothy McCluskey passed away at home on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 surrounded by her loving husband and children.  Dorothy had a long and happy life full of friendships, adventures, and many accomplishments.

A 1949 graduate of Wheaton College, she was a charter member of the Land Trust, and had been a member of the Planning Board and the Block Island Conservancy. Dorothy was also a private donor of open space and a two-term member of the Connecticut state legislature. Dorothy was awarded the Bayberry Wreath Award in 2001 for her land conservation efforts.

A private funeral service will be held in Haddam, CT. A memorial gathering for Dorothy will be held on Block Island at a future date.
