Island Free Library Programs
The Island Free Library invites all to participate in the programs listed below. More information available at islandfreelibrary.org. Library Hours: Tues. 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Wed., Thurs. and Fri. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Sat. 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.
*** KIDS’ PROGRAMS ***
Wed: 10:30 a.m. Lapsit Story Time for ages 0 to 2. Stories, songs, and fingerplays at the library with Ms. Morgan.
Thur.: 10:30 a.m. Preschool Storytime for ages 3 to 5 years with Ms. Morgan. Read, sing, dance and play!
*** ALL AGES ***
Chess extraordinaire Graham Watkins will be at the library on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
*** ADULT PROGRAMS ***
Tues. at 5:30 p.m. Mah Jongg. In addition, we will play on Sat. at 10 a.m. Come play a game or two. If you don’t know how to play, we will teach you. All are welcome to participate.
Tues.: Clase de ingles/English Language Class in-person at the library. La clase de ingles sera en la biblioteca. Beginner class: 5:30 to 6:40 p.m. Intermediate/advanced: 6:50 to 8:00. Individual tutoring is available weekdays,
Thurs.: 8:30 a.m. Movement for Life. Join Tom Hobin on the library’s front lawn for this easy-to-follow Tai Chi based movement.
Thurs.: 5 - 6 p.m. D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read). Join others in an hour of silent reading. No other library services will be available - and no chitchatting, please.
Sat. at 10 a.m.: Mah Jongg. Come play a game or two. If you don’t know how to play, we will teach you. All are welcome to participate.
Sat. 1 p.m. Stitch Together: Bring your projects (knitting, crochet, weaving, or embroidering) for crafting and conversations. All ages and skill levels welcome – bring your problems and questions - help is available!
Caretakers Support Group
The Caregivers Support Group meeting in person at the Community Center on Thur., Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. Meetings are free of charge and held every other week. Contact Kerri Gaffett at email@example.com for questions.
The Nature Conservancy and Block Island Conservancy present:

Not New Boutique
Wed. (rain date Thurs.) through September 7 with the final sale on Saturday, Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. No additional clothing donations will be accepted until May 1, 2023.
Block Island Arts and Crafts Guild Fair
Sunday, September 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Historical Society. Ten percent of all proceeds go towards scholarships for Block Island School students.
The International Student Center at Harbor Church
The recreation room is open weekly on Mon., Tue. and Wed., 6 to 9 p.m. All summer student workers are welcome.
Garden Harvest Luncheon and Kelp Farming Presentation
All are welcome at the Block Island Gardeners’ “Harvest from our Gardens” luncheon on Wednesday, September 14 at noon on the porch of the Narragansett Inn. Please bring a favorite dish incorporating harvest from your
garden (or someone else’s). Following lunch, enjoy a presentation by Block Island’s own Catherine Puckett: Gardening Above and Below the Ocean: Kelp Harvesting on Block Island.” For questions, please email Maude at
