Movie and a Meal Returns to Harbor Church
A series of inspiring true-life adventures every Friday night. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. and film at 7 p.m.
Oct. 25 - “The Dawn Wall.” Legendary free climber Tommy Caldwell overcomes heartbreak by scaling 5,000 feet of an impossible rock face: the Dawn Wall of El Capitan.
Nov. 1 - “The Way Back.” Seven prisoners escape the brutal Siberian gulag to begin a treacherous 4,500 mile trek to freedom across the world's most merciless landscapes
Nov. 8 - “Homeward Bound.” The incredible journey of three pets who are lost in the Canadian wilderness and find their way back home.
Senior Ride Service Up and Running
The Senior Advisory Committee has reinstated the Senior Ride Service for island seniors, persons with special needs, and caregivers without transportation. The cost is $3 per round trip. Soup Group Every Tuesday
Meet at the Community Center at 12:30 p.m. If you need a ride or have a question, call Gail Pierce at (401) 466-5470 or Debbie Martin at (401) 466-5224. This is the final Soup Group of the season. Lunch Bunch starts on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
Block Island Ecumenical Choir
Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Harbor Church. Rehearsals for the fall concert. All who love to sing are welcome to join.
A Talk On Ticks
On Saturday, Oct. 26, The Nature Conservancy is sponsoring a presentation by Dr. Peter Krause about his 25-year study of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases on Block Island. The gathering will be at Island Free Library at 12:30 p.m.
National First Responders Day Celebration
To honor our volunteer Fire, Rescue and Police squads on Block Island, the Block Island Ecumenical Ministries will be sponsoring a celebration in their honor at St. Andrew Parish Center on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3 p.m. The entire island community is encouraged to come out to celebrate their contributions to our town with guest speakers, stories, prayers for blessings, and a time of refreshments.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
Monday, Oct. 28 at 4 p.m. at St. Ann’s By-The-Sea. All are welcome. Yarn and patterns will be available. The Block Island Prayer Shawl Ministry will be gathering on the fourth Monday of every month.
NAMI-BI Support Group
Saturday, Nov. 2, NAMI-BI Family Support Group will meet at the Island Free Library, Room C, from 10 to 11.30 a.m. Anyone with a close friend or family member who is affected by living with mental illness is welcome. Anyone can attend and listen or speak as they wish.

Helping Hands Food Pantry
The next Helping Hands Food Pantry will be Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Harbor Church.
Saturday Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. Meet at Second Bluffs on Mohegan Trail. Bring a flashlight and dress warmly.
