On a steamy Wednesday, Sept. 27 with the temperature hovering around 70 degrees Block Island was shrouded in fog. The Block Island Times toured the island and captured this scene at Payne's Dock in New Harbor. The fog was so thick that visibility was obscured beyond a number of yards in any direction.

Note: New England Airlines is not flying due to what they are calling a low ceiling. Call the airline at 401-466-5881 for reservations and flight information. The Block Island ferry is running.

Despite the conditions, people were out and about tending to chores or other business on the island.
